The European digital library

The Nacional and University Library (NUK), whose beginnings date back to 1774, when the library of the Ljubljana Lyceum was established, officially took over the status and tasks of the National Library 60 years ago.

The establishment of the European digital library is currently one of NUK’s most important projects. NUK is one of the eight founders of the project, which will cover 43 countries.

Digitalisation and construction of the digital library took place in cooperation with our company. To search for digitized periodicals, we have developed an appropriate application that allows searching through metadata and full text.

Lenart Šetinc, director of NUK, said in the article that the idea, in addition to bibliographic data, is to cover more and more full texts in electronic form. Several important collections are expected to be developed in a few years, among them certainly the Collection of Scientific Articles, Doctorates and Research Reports in Full Texts. It is a necessity if we want to support the development of Slovenian science.
